Significant corrections should identify the affected page, the date, what changed, why it changed, and whether the conclusion changed.
Corrections
A correction fixes a material error in a previously published statement, date, identity, quotation, source characterization, or legal status.
Updates and clarifications
An update adds later information. A clarification improves accurate wording that could reasonably be misunderstood. Neither should be mislabeled as a correction when the earlier record was not materially wrong.
Supersession and withdrawal
When a page is substantially replaced or withdrawn, the public record should preserve enough context to show the disposition without continuing to circulate harmful or invalid content.
Practical checklist
Each public entry should include
- Date of the public change.
- Affected page and section.
- Plain-language description of the repair.
- Whether the central conclusion changed.
